Zahra M. Amber Hyman, LGPC, PMH-C, EMDR

Practicing Since:2016

Zahra graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. She was inspired to become a mental health counselor by her time spent as a special education teacher, an experience that continues to inform her commitment to advocacy, resilience, and meeting clients where they are. She is especially dedicated to supporting BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities with humility, care, and empowerment.

Zahra is also a certified perinatal mental health specialist (PMH-C) and former postpartum doula, and she implements this expertise in treatment with clients. Zahra works with birthing people, parents, and families navigating infertility, pregnancy, loss, and postpartum transitions. Additionally, she has completed training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She integrates evidence-based trauma modalities with a culturally responsive, feminist framework. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that individual well-being cannot be separated from larger systems of oppression, including racism, gendered racism, heterosexism, and other intersecting injustices.

Clients will experience safe and creative space during treatment with Zahra. Motivated by creativity, she practices as a poetry therapy trainee, using expressive arts as a pathway for healing and self-discovery.

Zahra M. Amber Hyman, LGPC, is licensed in the state of Maryland (#LGP15265) and under the clinical supervision of Georgina Irondi, LCSW-C (#20025).
