Zahra M. Amber Hyman, LGPC

Practicing Since:2016
Zahra is a trauma-informed therapist and perinatal mental health specialist whose practice is grounded in a feminist perspective that honors the sacred worth, agency, and dignity of people of all backgrounds and genders. She specializes in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, offering a compassionate and relational approach that integrates psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and narrative therapy. Zahra’s work is intentionally inclusive of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, and she is deeply committed to creating spaces of safety, affirmation, and justice. She is also pursuing certification in poetry therapy to further support healing through creative expression.
Zahra believes healing is both a psychological and spiritual journey—one that involves reclaiming voice, story, and self-worth in the face of systems that may have caused harm. Her work is rooted in the transformative power of sacred storytelling, relational connection, and liberatory care.
She received her Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a connection in working with minority populations. Additionally, Zahra has a Master’s in Education, having taught special education for 10 years. She is trained in EMDR and certified in mental health first aid.
Zahra is a mom to a young girl and a young boy, and in her spare time she enjoys writing, open mic poetry, painting, visiting museums, and taking crafting classes such as knitting and sewing.
