Sara Cushing, Clinical Intern

Practicing Since: 2018

Sara strives to create an inclusive, welcoming, and affirming environment for individuals of all backgrounds, identities, sexualities, and stages of life.  Sara believes that clients are the experts of their own lives and should remain in the driver’s seat when determining the direction of their treatment.  Her role is to walk alongside clients, offering support, guidance, resources, and tools while honoring their autonomy and experience. Sara draws from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based approaches, tailoring her methods to meet each person’s unique needs.  Above all, Sara aims to foster a safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to create meaningful change in their lives.

Mental health is truly an essential part of our overall well-being and is just as important as physical health.  Life is predictably unpredictable, and can bring challenges, transitions, and unexpected turns when least expected.  Sare believes that therapy should always be a safe and supportive space to navigate those moments in a way that leaves clients feeling empowered, and more capable of taking action in their daily lives.

Sara sees the therapeutic process as a collaborative journey-one where clients will bring their lived experiences, strengths, and goals, and she will bring her own experience, training, and unwavering support. Working together, with clients, to identify what matters most, and develop tools to aid in meaningful, and lasting change.

Sara believes that healing and growth happen when people feel heard, respected and accepted for exactly who they are as they worked toward the best versions of themselves.  It is Sara’s hope to provide that space for every client.

Sara has been married and has 4 children who are all homeschooled.  She loves creating! Drawing, writing books, and baking.

Sara is practicing under the clinical supervision of Patrice Forrester, LCSW-C #16103.
