She utilizes a strength-based, client-focused therapeutic approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral therapies. She focuses on listening to and understanding her clients in order to create a positive genuine therapeutic relationship and gain a clear concept of the client’s culture, experiences, and presenting concerns. Every person’s life journey is unique, and Nettia tailors therapy to suit the needs of each client. She utilizes therapeutic skills and techniques to help clients develop mindfulness, effective coping skills, and healthy behaviors to move toward healing and growth.
Nettia believes in the restorative power of humor, creativity, and spirituality as elements of successful therapy. She enjoys assisting clients in achieving their personal goals and improving their overall well-being.
Nettia has a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Loyola University in Maryland. She holds a certificate for Applied Suicide Interventions Skills Training, and as a Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO).
Nettia is married to an active-duty military member and together they have two children. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, gardening, running, watching movies, and all things related to music.
