Lyzbeth Monard Eguren, MSW

Practicing Since: 2020

Lyzbeth believes the counseling process is a journey of growth and healing based on trust and mutual respect. She utilizes holistic healing that acknowledges that a person is physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.  She allows clients to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.

Lyzbeth’s extensive training in couples therapy, trauma, executive functioning skill building, and anxiety equips her to guide individuals through their healing journey. Her strength-based perspective is a beacon of hope, helping people cultivate healthier relationships and forge more meaningful, fulfilling connections. Her therapy style is open, warm, and collaborative, creating a space where you can feel truly accepted, grounded, and hopeful about the future.

After a thorough exploration of prominent methodologies for couples counseling, Lyzbeth chose to pursue training in the Gottman Method for its unique benefits. The Gottmans’ extensive research has led to the development of tangible skills that can be learned and practiced immediately, along with tools to strengthen the foundation of the positive qualities of both partners and the couple, fostering lasting positive change. Clients have also discovered that these communication skills are transferable to other relationships, empowering them to communicate more effectively with friends, family, colleagues, and other connections. In addition to the Gottman Method, Lyzbeth also incorporates techniques from attachment theory, CBT, and IFS, further enhancing the breadth of her therapeutic approach.

Lyzbeth was born in Peru. She has two daughters and a beloved dog, Machin. In her free time, she does Pilates and reads.

Lyzbeth is under the supervision of Mary Dolby McDonald, LCSW (#0904003530), in Virginia.
