Gwinn Spence, LGPC

Practicing Since: 2018

Gwinn graduated from Bowie State University with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She was inspired to become a mental health counselor after retiring from 30 years in the technology industry in 2016. She believes a healthy well-being is physical, mental, spiritual, social, and emotional, so all areas will be addressed to improve mood and help goals be achievable.

Gwinn believes in addressing mental health in a holistic manner, looking at the individual’s current lifestyle and encouraging each client to make necessary changes for emotional wellness. She approaches treatment utilizing a hybrid of modalities including Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Journaling, Bibliotherapy, Adlerian, Art Therapy techniques, Gestalt Empty Chair, Family Systems Therapy, Addiction Recovery Counseling, and Biblical-based Counseling.

Clients will experience a relaxed, safe space where they can talk confidentially about goals, concerns, conflicts, feelings, current events or past trauma with Gwinn, an understanding and empathetic therapist. Motivated by her family, she enjoys church fellowship, art exhibits, farmers markets, traveling, and football season.

Gwinn is licensed in the state of Maryland (#LGP15142) and under the clinical supervision of Patricia Itzel, LCSW-C (#13811).
