Michelle Caynor, MSW, Supervisee in Clinical Social Work

Michelle Caynor graduated from Concord University with her Master’s degree in Social Work. She was inspired to become a mental health counselor by her previous career path as a nursing and medical assistant. This experience taught Michelle to be a positive part of the helping process, and that no one is perfect, but while we “perfect ourselves,” it is important to keep in mind that mistakes are proof you are trying.
Michelle approaches treatment with individualized care utilizing various methods including CBT, psychodynamic, cognitive processing, and play and art therapy. Her approach engages clients in coping strategies and techniques such as Grounding Theory, Strength-based management of behaviors, and the Can and Cannot Control method of rationalizing problems and struggles. Her vast background of experience has taught her the value of transparency and honesty, as well as how to serve and support others diligently and respectfully.
Clients will experience an open-minded conversation grounded in honesty during treatment with Michelle. She is motivated by her clients to develop a therapeutic relationship to best support them to reach their goals.
