Michelle Pearce

Michelle graduated from Yale University with a degree in Clinical Psychology. Her clinical training at Duke included rotations in the Pain Management/Biofeedback Program, Duke Eating Disorders Program, and the Cognitive Behavioral Research and Treatment Program. She completed two post-doctoral fellowships at Duke University Medical Center, one in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and one with the Center for Spirituality, Theology, and Health. She has received advanced training in integrative medicine from the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. She is also an adjunct Assistant Professor in the department of Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center and a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. They were inspired to become a mental health counselor with a passion for helping people achieve their health-related goals and live balanced, peaceful lives.
Michelle is also certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma and PTSD and also leads mind-body skills training, stress management, and writing for wellness groups. Her area of clinical and research expertise is in integrating spirituality and religion into therapy. She is the author of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Christians with Depression: A Tool-Based Primer. She implements this expertise in treatment with clients. Her holistic approach to treatment includes a number of psychological and mind-body methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mind-body stress reduction (e.g., breath-work, guided imagery, mindfulness, and progressive muscle relaxation), behavioral change for healthy lifestyles, mindful eating, spiritually-integrated therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Clients will experience reduced stress to better cope with illness, improve sleep, exercise, lose weight, reduce compulsive eating, improve diabetes management, better manage anxiety, situational depression and life adjustments, and improve overall quality of life. Inspired by her personal mission of empowering people to prosper–body, mind, and spirit.
