John Anderson, LCPC

Practicing since: 2019

John Anderson graduated from the University of Baltimore with a master’s degree in Applied Psychology. He was inspired to become a mental health counselor because it celebrates the courage it takes to heal. It reminds him that growth often begins in moments of uncertainty and that compassion and honest connection can restore hope where it was once lost. Witnessing people reclaim their voice and direction is what keeps him committed to this work.

John also holds training in trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and motivational interviewing. He implements this expertise in treatment with clients. Furthermore, he draws from archetypal and depth psychology to help clients explore the symbolic layers of emotion, identity, and meaning. His approach bridges evidence-based practice with psycho-spiritual insight, supporting clients in transforming struggle into strength and shadow into growth. In addition, his approach to treatment is person-centered, trauma-informed, and grounded in practical skill-building. John works collaboratively with clients to identify core patterns beneath distress, combining cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions with insight-oriented exploration.

Clients can expect an authentic, down-to-earth space where they don’t have to filter their thoughts or experiences due to John’s inspiration gained from his own period of uncertainty and loss that forced him to look inward and understand how emotional wounds shape the way we live and connect. The guidance and compassion he received during that time inspired him to do the same for others – to help people see that healing is possible and that their story isn’t over just because it’s taken a difficult turn.
