Erica Hudson, Resident in Counseling

Practicing Since: 2023
Clients can expect a warm, affirming, and collaborative space where their unique experiences are met with empathy and respect. Erica strives to create an atmosphere that feels both safe and empowering-one where clients can explore their inner world without fear of judgment. Erica’s approach is holistic and grounded in the belief that mental health concerns are valid responses to life’s challenges, not personal failings.
Erica integrates evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral activation, mindfulness, and psychoeducation to support self-understanding and sustainable growth. She also pays close attention to the mind-body connection and the impact of life transitions, hormonal changes, and stress on emotional well-being.
Whether clients are navigating anxiety, trauma, or a season of change, Erica’s goal is to help you build practical tools, deepen self-awareness, and reconnect with your inner resilience and purpose-at a pace that feels right for you.
Erica views mental health as an essential part of overall wellbeing, shaped by the complex interplay of our biology, experiences, relationships, and environment. Rather than seeing emotional struggles as signs of weakness or dysfunction, Erica believes they are often natural responses to the stressors, traumas, and transitions we encounter throughout life.
Therapy is a collaborative and empowering process. It provides a safe space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of our internal experiences with curiosity and compassion. Erica believes healing begins when we feel truly seen and heard, and she aims to offer that kind of presence to each of my clients.
Erica believes that her role is not to “fix” but to walk alongside clients-helping clients uncover insights, develop new skills, and reconnect with strengths. She hopes that therapy sessions will not only bring relief but will also foster deeper self-awareness and lasting resilience.
Erica is a wife and mother of three wonderful children who keep life busy and full of joy. She finds peace and grounding in the outdoors-whether it’s gardening, going for a walk, or simply spending time in nature. Being outside helps her recharge and stay connected to what matters most, and she encourages clients to explore how nature and movement can support their own wellbeing, too.
Erica is licensed in the state of Virginia (Lic# 0704018176) and practices under the clinical supervision of LeeAnn Gumulauskas (VA Lic# 0701008515).
