“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” – Bell Hooks

Zahra graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. She was inspired to pursue a career in mental health counseling through her work as a special education teacher, where she witnessed the profound impact of systemic oppression, trauma, and inequity on emotional well-being. Zahra observed how factors such as race, gender, disability, and societal expectations often shaped the ways students were misunderstood or left without adequate support.

These experiences strengthened Zahra’s commitment to feminist values such as empowerment, advocacy, social justice, and honoring peoples lived experiences. She became passionate about creating spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported in reclaiming their voices and healing on their own terms.

Zahra is also a certified perinatal mental health specialist (PMH-C) and former postpartum doula, and she implements this expertise in treatment with clients. Her approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in feminist values that emphasize empowerment, authenticity, and social context. She strives to create a non-pathologizing space where clients are not viewed as “broken,” but as people responding adaptively to their lived experiences, relationships, and systems of oppression.

Zahra integrates approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR to support healing from trauma, increase self-understanding, and strengthen connection to the self with compassion rather than shame. Her approach emphasizes curiosity, emotional safety, and honoring the many facets of each person’s identity and lived experience. Zahra is committed to helping clients reconnect with their voice, sense of agency, boundaries, and inherent worth, while acknowledging the influence of culture, gender, race, and intergenerational experiences on mental health and healing.

Clients can expect a warm, collaborative, and affirming therapeutic space with Zahra, where their full humanity is honored. She approaches clients not as problems to be fixed, but as individuals navigating complex experiences with wisdom, resilience, and protective strategies that deserve understanding.
