Shawntese Charles, LCSW-C

Practicing Since: 2005

Shawntese’s goal is to create a judgement free zone and a safe place to explore solutions to client’s problems. The treatment modalities that she often uses in her practice are: Person-Centered treatment, CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strength-Based. Her favorite way to work with clients is to understand what is most important to them and to assist them in achieving their goals in therapy.

Shawntese believes that each person has within them solutions to their problems that work best for them. She is here to help guide clients through the process and help them to achieve their personal goals.

Shawntese graduated from Georgetown University in 2003 with her Bachelor’s in Psychology and her Master of Social Work from Howard University in 2006. She has worked with clients that were involved in child welfare, have substance abuse/use, anxiety or depression. She has completed trainings that specialize in Trauma-Informed Care with LGBTQ+ populations.

Shawntese is married with three young children (all boys). She played college basketball and loves playing all sports with her boys. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books (mostly audio) and traveling to new places.

Shawntese is licensed in the state of Maryland (#15830).
