“The way out (of our suffering) is in.” — Thich Nhat Hanh

Matthew Ahn graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Matthew was inspired to become a mental health counselor after witnessing people in his life struggle with emotional and psychological challenges. He felt called to be a source of hope and healing for those facing these difficulties. As he grew older, his commitment deepened when he realized that many adults living with behavioral health conditions had not received the support they needed earlier in life.

Matthew takes a collaborative, client-centered approach to treatment, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and person-centered therapy. He also incorporates mindfulness-based practices and cognitive restructuring techniques to help clients develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and flexibility in responding to life’s challenges. Central to Matthew’s work is the belief that even difficult experiences can serve as opportunities for growth, insight, and meaningful change.

Clients working with Matthew can expect an approach that emphasizes the connection between the mind and body. While these are often viewed as separate, stress, trauma, and emotional experiences can have a profound impact on both. By increasing awareness of how thoughts, emotions, and the nervous system interact, clients can develop greater resilience, openness, and a deeper sense of inner peace.

Matthew Ahn, LGPC, is licensed in the state of Maryland (#LGP17217) and is under the clinical supervision of Dr. Michelle Pearce (#05176).
