Lisa MacHarrie, LCSW-C

Practicing since: 2018

Lisa MacHarrie graduated from the University of Maryland with a Master’s degree in Social Work and was inspired to become a mental health counselor through the joy she found in partnering with people as they navigate life’s challenges. She brings extensive experience from her work as a social worker within both the child welfare and school systems. Lisa firmly believes that every child deserves a safe, supportive space where they feel heard, accepted, and empowered to process and work through difficult emotions.

Lisa’s practice incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Care (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) modalities. These treatment methods allow clients to accept their experiences and gain perspective. Lisa specializes in supporting children and adolescents as they navigate life transitions, burnout, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and peer conflicts. Drawing from her experience as a social worker, she also brings expertise in addressing behavioral challenges and navigating the special education process.

Clients will experience a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where they feel heard, valued, and fully supported. Lisa’s approach is client-centered, strength-based, and solution focused. After working with Lisa, clients can walk away with practical skills to add to their self-regulation toolbox – skills they can draw on throughout their lives.
