Karen Alexander, LGPC

Practicing since: 2025
Karen Alexander graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Karen has taken a diverse professional journey that ultimately led her to the field of mental health. Through her work in church settings and military service, she has had the opportunity to walk alongside individuals experiencing emotional wounds and trauma, helping them navigate their experiences and move toward healing, resilience, and hope.
Karen prioritizes creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard before moving into interventions. She utilizes a person-centered approach and cognitive behavioral elements for clients to identify how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact. Using a trauma-informed lens, Karen is mindful of how past experiences influence present behavior and emphasizes emotional and physical safety in the therapeutic relationship.
Clients can expect a collaborative therapeutic process that is guided by the belief that they are the experts on their own life experiences. Together with Karen, clients will identify patterns that may be holding them back, explore healthier coping strategies, and develop practical skills they can carry into their everyday lives. Some of Karen’s core values for her practice include compassion, cultural humility, and hope. She believes that healing is possible at every stage of life and that people are more than the problems they face. With empathy and compassion, Karen helps clients gain insight, inspire reflection, and develop practical tools to create meaningful change.
Karen Alexander, LGPC, is licensed in the state of Maryland (#LGP18181) and under the clinical supervision of Stephanie Sherrer, LCPC (#LC11063).
