Deana Nisbett, Master’s Level Clinical Social Worker

Practicing since: 2026

Deana Nisbett is pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Maryland. Throughout her professional journey, she has been drawn to roles centered on helping others navigate difficult situations. Becoming a mental health counselor was a natural progression, allowing her to build on her extensive experience supporting individuals through conflict and challenging circumstances.

Deana also holds a Master of Science in Conflict Resolution and Negotiation and brings 16 years of experience in mediation and facilitation. She draws on this background to help clients strengthen communication, explore different perspectives, and develop practical skills for navigating relationships and life transitions. Her counseling approach emphasizes active listening, compassionate support, collaboration, and helping clients identify strategies that align with their individual needs and goals.

Clients can expect a welcoming space where they can share openly and move at a pace that feels comfortable for them. Deana prioritizes listening and understanding each client’s concerns and experiences before offering guidance or exploring possible solutions. Her initial goal is to ensure clients feel heard, accepted, and safe enough to express their authentic thoughts and feelings.

Deana Nisbett is under clinical supervision of Stefanie Plitt, LCSW-C, licensed in the State of Maryland (#16101).
